Top 5 Film & Television Apps in Ghana Q1 2023

The first quarter of 2023 saw notable trends in the performance of the top 5 film and television applications in Ghana. Here, we break down the weekly downloads, revenue, and active users for Amazon Prime Video, Showmax, Netflix, Shahid - ﺷﺎﻫﺪ, and iQIYI - Dramas, Anime, Shows.

Amazon Prime Video experienced a steady increase in weekly revenue, peaking at approximately $336 in the final week of February. Weekly downloads showed a slight upward trend towards the end of the quarter, reaching 1.3K in the last week of March. Weekly active users fluctuated throughout the quarter but ended at around 3.9K.

For Showmax, the highest weekly revenue was about $412 at the end of December. Weekly downloads peaked at around 5.7K in mid-March, while weekly active users saw a gradual decline from 200.7K at the end of January to 156.8K by the end of March.

Netflix saw its weekly revenue peaking at $248 in the third week of February. Weekly downloads remained relatively stable, with the highest being 16.2K in early January. Weekly active users hovered around 670K to 690K throughout the quarter, ending at roughly 676.9K.

Shahid - ﺷﺎﻫﺪ noted a significant increase in weekly revenue, reaching approximately $272 in mid-March. Weekly downloads saw a sharp rise towards the end of the quarter, peaking at 429 in the last week of March. Weekly active users also increased dramatically, from around 326 at the end of December to 725 by the end of March.

Finally, iQIYI - Dramas, Anime, Shows had a steady weekly revenue trend, peaking at $71 in mid-March. Weekly downloads fluctuated, reaching a high of 407 in early March. Weekly active users remained relatively stable throughout the quarter, ending at around 4.9K.
